Have you noticed that the Apple logo on the back of your iPad is often “upside down” when you use a keyboard?
Originally, the iPad was designed to be held upright (portrait mode). But now, many people use it horizontally (landscape mode) like a laptop, especially with accessories like the Magic Keyboard.
The iPad has changed over time. It started as a device to be used mostly in portrait mode. Now, it is often used as a laptop alternative.
Many users prefer to use their iPads in landscape mode. This is especially true when they use accessories like the Magic Keyboard. Because of this, people are wondering: Will Apple change its logo orientation on future iPads?
In a recent interview, Apple designer Molly Anderson talked about this question.
When asked about the “upside-down” Apple logo in landscape mode, she said, “This could change.” Anderson said that the iPad can be used in any direction. She knows that more people are using it in landscape mode.
Her answer suggests that Apple might change the logo on future iPads to match the way people use them, like on MacBooks.
In 2022, Apple launched the 10th generation iPad. They moved the camera to the front for better use in landscape mode. This change is also in the new M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro.
Since iPadOS 14.5, the Apple logo on the screen matches the device’s orientation when it starts up.
Changing the logo might seem like a small thing, but it shows a new way of thinking about the iPad.
