Jeremy Renner made fans laugh when he joked that he needs his mom’s permission to go back to work. This comes after his serious snowplow accident last year. The accident left him with 38 broken bones, a collapsed lung and major chest injuries.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Renner said that the co-creator of his show “Mayor of Kingstown” had to call his mom to check if he was okay to return to work. Even after returning he had to be careful with physical activities.
Talking about his recovery, Renner said “To try to create some truth and then get the audience to believe it while I’m just trying to learn to walk again, to put one foot in front of the other and not get up in agony.” He added “I’m doing all these things to find my footing on the planet again” but he wondered “Is this something I really want to do?”
Renner also shared a moment when he fell asleep during filming. “They go, ‘And action!’ And I was out” he said, explaining that he was working too many hours. He realized “What I’m willing to do is everything but what I’m able to do is a different thing.”
Because of his condition the producers made big changes. They included modifications, stretching and exercise options on set. Renner who had to deal with jet lag from traveling between Pittsburgh and California, joked, “They have to treat me like I’m a child actor. The mayor of Kingstown is now like a 14-year-old.”
