Indian companies have been selling military equipment to Israel, leading to discussions about India’s position on the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
The website The Wire reported that Munitions India Limited, a government-owned company can sell equipment to Israel until January 2024.
Also Adani Elbit Advanced Systems India Limited, a joint venture between India’s Adani Defense and Israel’s Elbit Systems has sent many drones and related equipment to Israel from 2019 to 2023.
Another company Premier Explosives Limited, monitored by the Indian government has been permitted to export military weapons to Israel twice since last year.
On April 18, 2024 Munitions India Limited applied to continue sending more weapons to Israel. This request is still being reviewed.
India has also imported about $2.9 billion worth of military hardware from Israel including radars, drones and missiles. Some drones made by Adani in India were used by Israel during conflicts in Gaza. This has raised ethical concerns.
