Kim Ki Nam, who used to make propaganda in North Korea, has died. He was 94 years old. He died because he was very old and his body stopped working well. He has been getting medical help since last year.
Kim Ki Nam worked for many years to make people in North Korea admire their leaders more. The current leader Kim Jong Un went to his funeral and spoke very highly of him.
A news group in South Korea compared him to a famous propaganda leader from Germany’s past, Joseph Goebbels.
Kim Ki Nam was not related to North Korea’s ruling family even though they share the same last name which is a common one in Korea.
He started working in a propaganda department in 1966. He worked under Kim Jong Il who was the leader before Kim Jong Un.
Kim Ki Nam and Kim Jong Il were close friends and spent a lot of time together.
In the 1970s Kim Ki Nam was in charge of a big newspaper in North Korea.
He also worked on projects to remember North Korea’s first leader Kim Il Sung and to help Kim Jong Il become the next leader.
Kim Ki Nam was one of the few North Korean officials who visited South Korea.
He also wrote many political slogans and had a big influence on media and arts in North Korea.
When Kim Jong Il died suddenly in 2011 Kim Ki Nam helped his son Kim Jong Un become the new leader.
North Korean media said that under Kim Jong Un’s leadership, the country would become very strong.
Kim Ki Nam was seen in pictures even when he was old, showing he was still important in North Korea.
He retired a few years ago and Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong took over his job.
When Kim Ki Nam died, the main newspaper in North Korea put the news on the front page showing he was a respected man.
A professor said that Kim Ki Nam’s death marks the end of an important time for North Korean propaganda. He said that the way North Korea talks about itself and other countries has changed under Kim Jong Un.
